Elizabeth Arden Vincenza Raspberry

Good morning, Dear Reader!

Elizabeth Arden Vincenza Raspberry is another fabulous discontinued polish uncovered in my time capsule from the other day.  It's a gorgeous, slightly jelly base that's the color of raspberry sorbet and full of tiny gold flaky glittery bits.  I used three coats to make it as opaque as I wanted it, and it turned out really well.  Here's Vincenza Raspberry in sunlight after it dried.

Ain't she a beauty?  It's a good one for today, my mom's birthday, because it's a really chipper color.  This year, my dad and I are celebrating my mom's birthday by going out to lunch and then to some new shopping outlet.  We both generally detest shopping while it was my mom's favorite sport, so she'd be thrilled that we went out to check this place out  for her.  Truthfully, I think my dad has ulterior motives - my sister took him there last week and he was enthralled with looking at air rifles (he's 85, what the heck does he need with an air rifle?), and I believe he's managed to rationalize some need for one in the days since he saw them and that we'll be leaving with one today.  Since it's his cash, it's his business (well, sometimes my entertainment too), so I'll just stand by with a fabulous manicure during the rifle purchase.

That's the update for today, Dear Reader, so until next time, love and nail polish to you!

Cannes White Sand

Good morning, Dear Reader!

If all is well in my world, right now I'm driving down I-55 to go for a visit with my family and friends.  Before I left, I took a few pictures for posts while I'm away until Thursday, and I hope they keep you busy!

With all the Konading and now gradient manis I've done lately, I decided to do one recently that is simplicity itself: Elizabeth Arden Cannes White Sand S.  It's a great ivory white, with its only down side being that it took four coats.  However, since it's chock full o' chemically goodness, the dry time for a four-coat manicure was good.  Here she is!

This mani was a nice break from the more festive things I've been doing, but it was just a  little break.  I have much more festive things in store for you in the next couple of days!

That's all I have for you today, Dear Reader.  I'll be checking in as I can, so if your comments or emails go unanswered for a bit, rest assured that I will get to them as soon as I can.  Until tomorrow, love and nail polish to you!

Butterscotch Cookies & Cabernet, Plus Some Nubar News

Good morning, Dear Reader!

Sounds like a recipe for digestive disaster, doesn't it?  It's not!  It's just my Konadicure of the Day.

I started with a base of three coats of Elizabeth Arden Garden City Cabernet C, which I topped with a coat of EA's Split Second Speed Dry Top Coat, my first time using this top coat.  I had high hopes for the top coat, as I love the quality of EA products, but it was a great disappointment.  The first thing I noticed was that the color transferred from the nail to the brush as I applied it, even though I waited 3-4 minutes for the polish to set prior to applying top coat.  It did work in terms of drying the polish quickly, but it is not nearly as shiny as my favorite, SpaRitual Tout de Suite, or the others I use, Seche Vite and Poshe.

Here's Garden City Cabernet C on its own with the EA top coat.

To it, I decided to add the fishnet patterns from Konad plate M57, and I tried out FingerPaints Butterscotch Cookie for the stamping.  This was also my first time using FingerPaints polish to Konad, and I was happily surprised at how well it worked - I'd venture to say that it worked better than the Konad Gold Special Polish.  I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite to add the shine that was missing, and here's my finished result.  Please forgive the typo in the title on the pic...

So that's today's KOTD!  It may be the KOTM (Konadicure of the Moment), as I have some polishes to swatch for you, so we'll see how long I keep it.

On to the Nubar news!  Unfortunately, I don't have any exciting word on the Corals or Cleopatra Collections we're all on the edge of our seats for, but I did find out something kind of cool (to me, with my great love of Nubar) I thought I'd share with you.  You know the movie He's Just Not That Into You?  There's a salon scene in it, and they used Nubar polishes for that scene.  It looks like Nubar's starting to get some well-deserved recognition!  If you want to read the full article about it, here's a link to it.  That was just a nifty little snippet I thought I'd share with you.

That's what I have for your this morning, Dear Reader.  Until next time, love and nail polish to you!

More Konadicures!

Good morning, Dear Reader!

Today, I have pictures of more Konadicures for you! I was in a picture takin' mood this morning, so I even have a before and after of today's Nails of the Day.

I'll start strong today with Yves Saint Laurent's Tulipe Noire, which I thought could use a delicate little tip pattern.

Next up is yesterday's NOTD, which is Rescue Beauty Lounge's No More War with an all-over pattern and tips in yellow. It brings back memories of the 1970's avocado green and harvest gold kitchen applicances I grew up with.

While I was in the '70's state of mind, I did a mani that reminds me of my mom's recipe box. It was a yellow index card box with funky early '70's flower stickers on it.

That brings me to today's NOTD, which is a Konaded EA Christopher St. Cappucino. Here's the base I started with...

...And here's my end result about 45 minutes later.

Today is one of those days where both hands turned out just right, so I did pictures of both. The next time I have a day where my right hand is imperfect, I can look at this post and remind myself that it can be done!

That's all of the for the pictures today, Dear Reader, which brings me to the part where I remind you to enter this week's giveaway. It ends on Tuesday, and it's a random drawing for an OPI Music Hall Minis Set, which was generously given to you by sparkling*nails on ebay to thank you for your business. Your name will show as you enter it (so you don't have to enter your full name), and your email address will only be used to notify you if you're the winner. The drawing is open to all readers worldwide, so if you have not entered, please do!

That's all for now, Dear Reader. Love and nail polish to you!

Some Fabulous Elizabeth Ardens

Good afternoon, Dear Reader! The sun came out, and the box of polish I referred to in my last post started loudly calling my name. As a result, I have pictures of EA's Camden Pepperberry and West End Purple Sage for you.
Why EA decided to discontinue their nail polish line, I will never know. They apply and wear like a dream, have spectacular colors, and the glittery ones have such a unique and amazing sparkle to them. Such a shame that they've been discontinued!

So that's what I have for this afternoon. There will be more fun to come tomorrow, and in the meantime, have a wonderful day!
