Hi everyone! Boy, Uni life sure is hectic even during a break. I finally completed my second assignment for the break and guess what? I have a third one to do. Yipee! :( My life will be absolutely crazy until November 25th, which is when my last exam for the year is scheduled to be. So until then, what with assignments, prac and exams, I have no idea how often I will be painting my nails, let alone updating this blog.
Whining over, on to the nails :) I went for purple this time but I'm not sure I like what I did.
I applied two coats of Sportsgirl Baby elephant onto my index and fifth fingers. It is a greyed out purple with a lovely shimmer - beautiful! For my thumb and middle finger, I applied two coats of OPI Parlez-vous OPI?. Decorated my thumb by placing some 3D objects on it and using my Glossyblossom nail art striper in white for the white lines on my middle finger. Zoya Dannii was applied on my fourth finger and also used to dot the flower on my middle finger.
My friend gave me some of the flat 3D decorations to play with for my birthday. She knows me too well ;)
What do you think of this mani?
Thanks for looking ^^

Neon, to fight the gloom
Hi everyone~ :) All last week was filled with rain, rain and more rain over here so I thought I'd fight the gloominess with a bright neon manicure :P.
I used two coats of Sportsgirl Citrus and as with all neons it was sheer, so I started off with one coat of Ulta3 lily white before layering Citrus over it. I applied a coat of OPI Black shatter to soften the brightness a bit ^^
Apologies for the lobster fingers but this was the only photo which showed the true shade of the polish. Personally I'm a bit too afraid of drawing attention to neon shades on my tips so I think shatter/crackle polishes are awesome for layering over them :). What do you think?

More randomness
Hey~ :) This was another easy nail art design I decided to do to jazz up my otherwise plain mani. I applied two coats of Sportsgirl Supernatural on my nails. For my accent nail I applied two coats of Ulta3 black satin and used Glossyblossom nail art striper in violet to do the stripes. Simple mani, but I like it :)
My life is becoming a lot more hectic now with assignments due in pretty much every single week. On top of that, I'll be starting prac and so posts will probably not be as often as they have been recently, haha. I guess I'll be going back to posting every 2 or so days, provided I have time to do my nails.

Another patchwork mani
Hey~ :) I was out of creative juices the other night but was in a mood for nail art so I based my mani on the patchwork idea by the awesome Erika over at Chloe's Nails.
I applied two coats of Zoya Gloria then taped off my nails before applying one thicker coat of Spotsgirl Galaxy. The polishes were reversed on my fourth nail. I'm sitting on the fence with this mani, I don't love it, but don't hate it either :S. What do you think?

November Haul
I've decided to write up posts of my hauls on a monthly basis now instead of showing them sporadically. I've already shown my first half of my November haul here so here's part II. November was definitely my largest hauling month to date; I spent waaaaay over $100 on nail polish which is a bit over my budget, hehe.
Anyway, here is part II of my haul.
OPI: Yodel me on my cell, Miami Beet, Siberian Nights
Sally Hansen Mosaic Creme, China Glaze Caribbean blue, Finger Paints Art you blue?
Sportsgirl: Commando, Supernatural, matte topcoat
Woah, this brings my polish collection total to 122 bottles! While this may not be large in comparison to many bloggers, it's quite a feat for me since my addiction only started earlier this year ^^.
Thanks for dropping by~

Supernatural, a Chanel Paradoxal dupe?
Is it possible that we Aussie polish lovers may actually have an easily accessible dupe to Chanel Paradoxal?! While the US bloggers are currently loving Revlon's Perplex and the UK/European girls have the Barry M dupe, Australia just seems to be completely MIA with the dupe-wagon. Revlon polishes are sold at inflated prices here in Australia and the polish I'm about to show you may just satiate those who are lemming Paradoxal but are unwilling to fork out the money here down under :). Behold Sportsgirl's Supernatural. This beauty is two coats plus top coat.
The first two photos are taken under direct sunlight. When comparing Supernatural to Paradoxal photos (here and here), you can see that they are indeed very similar. However, I do not own Paradoxal and so I cannot say for sure that they are exact dupes by just looking at swatches.
Photo taken indoors with flashlight:
And a macro shot of Supernatural under indirect sunlight.
So what do you think? Is it similar enough or are you still after Paradoxal? For me, I absolutely adore the polish so I don't actually mind whether it's a dupe or not, hehe. It's a really pretty dark, dusty purple and I'm loving it ♥.

Another small-ish haul
Over the past week or so, I have been stalking the Vogue forums for news of Ulta3's new spring polishes. Earl grey appears to be the most sought after polish and I can see why. I've definitely jumped onto the bandwagon and digging thoroughly through my local chemist's Ulta3 bins myself :D. I haven't found it yet, but I'm persevering to the end.
Anyway, here is what I came out with yesterday after searching (almost desperately!).
From left to right:
Ulta3 in Carrot top, Candied violet, Black satin, Watermelon
Sportsgirl in Citrus
I had walked into Sportsgirl in the hopes of buying their matte top coat. However to my dismay, they only had a tester remaining. Bummer. Or maybe not really, since I don't like Sportsgirl's full priced polishes anyway ($7.95). My friend found Citrus on sale and so I scored another of their polishes :P.
Carrot Top is from Ulta3's new Spring range. If you can't tell already, I've been really into orange polishes lately due to it being almost Summer ^^. As for Candied violet, I have been lemming for this for so, so long! I was really excited when I found it in the Ulta3 bin at the chemist yesterday. Totally popping this on asap!

Nail art #6
Lamest title ever, but I really didn't know what to call this post :/.
I tried my hand at some nail art over the weekend and am pretty satisfied with the end result :). The design was inspired by this photo, but I decided to choose a lighter colour since I've been wearing some rather pigmented polishes lately.
Polishes used:
Sportsgirl - Baby Elephant
Glossyblossom Two-way nail art - #S08 (white) and #S03 (purple shimmer)
I applied two coats of Baby Elephant as a base for my third and fifth fingers. (I think my bottle is getting a bit old, the polish was noticeably thicker this time round compared to the last.) This polish is a lovely greyed out light purple, with shimmer throughout to give it an overall gorgeous look. You can see the amount of shimmer there is in the polish in the bottle! I then used my striper to apply the white stripes. For my first and fourth fingers, I freehanded a french tip with Baby Elephant (again, two coats), then added the purple strip to 'neaten' out the look. I made use of my dotting tools to apply the dots, again, using the white polish from the striper polish. I really love the end result :).

Sportsgirl - Galaxy
OMGOMGOMG. This polish is so much love. Despite the fact that I was wrong about it being a purply-vampy colour, I was blown away still. I mean, how can anyone resist red glitter (and smooth too!!!) in black jelly?! I sure can't anyway.
Photo blurred to show the awesome red glitter!
For some reason, most of the photos I took showed the black to be purple o__o. And the red glitter showed up as multi-coloured flecks. I'm sad I couldn't have uploaded more photos to share the awesome goodness. Oh, and when I tried to put a topcoat over it, the polish sort of clouded over, if you get my drift? So the above photos show three coats on Galaxy, and four layers of polish if you include the fail topcoat. I think I may go and place some clear polish over the top just to be safe, I'm loving Galaxy this much I don't see myself taking it off any time soon.
Sportsgirl is a brand I'm beginning to really like for nail polish; I currently own only two bottles haha. It's retail prices are a bit heavy though considering it's not really a high-end brand; they're sold for $7.95 each. Seeing as I can get China Glaze and Orly polishes for less than that, it makes me a bit unwilling to fork out money the full price. Which is exactly why I love sales :D.
For the Aussie polishers who are trying desperately to find a matte topcoat, search no longer. Sportsgirl's new range of nail polishes include a matte topcoat :). I haven't tried it yet so anyone does end up buying it, I'd love to hear your reviews!

A mini haul
I had initially promised myself to go on a polish ban, but that obviously failed. I just couldn't resist the sales :P. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to go out for a movie today...nahh XD.
With flash:
Without flash:
Top row: Sportsgirl's Galaxy
Bottom row: mwah's Mood, Devilish, Magnetic, Thrillseeker.
All Australian brands :). I'm most excited about Galaxy actually, because looking from the bottle, the shade seems almost like a vampy purple polish. It's high up on my list of 'potentials' for my next manicure! :D
Thanks for dropping by ^^.
