Bit of This. Bit of That.

This is one of those mani's that I was constantly looking at and thinking 'I could add this'. There's a very real danger there of it turning into a tacky abomination of a manicure but I think I managed to reel myself in enough to leave it at a slightly over the top mumble jumble of things!

It was originally just a nude nail and I wasn't going to apply any kind of nail art but I wanted to try out my Barry M Cyan Blue for stamping because I've had it for quite a while and it's gone too thick to really paint my nails with anymore. It actually worked really well! It would not have been this opaque when I first bought it but over time as it's thickened, it has turned in to a stamping polish!

The glitter is one that I found in a £1 bucket. It's not really packed with glitter so it's really just for layering. It reminds me of China Glaze Medallion. It's got gold glitter and holographic hexagonal pieces.

Flashy Franken

I was having a dilemma on Friday night. I couldn't pick out a single colour from my 150+ collection which I felt like wearing on my nails. At Marina's amazing suggestion on twitter, I decided to franken myself a new one.

I had seen this mani by Erika a while ago and knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted something similar, so I decided to aim for a light pink with gold shimmer much like China Glaze Pink-Rox-E and I think what I ended up with is a pretty good match, if I do say so myself. 

I mixed this shade from BYS Tickle Me Pink, an ancient, very sheer gold from Collection 2000 and a tiny smidge of BYS Metallic Fuschia.

 

Then to spice it up a little, I freehanded some gold tips with a little black line to emphasise them. I've done this a few times recently with different colour combinations, but they normally turn out really messy though so I haven't been photographing them. I freehanded the tips with Sally Hansen Amber Chrome and used Rimmel Black Satin for the lines applied with one of these little brushes from Born Pretty Store which made all the difference when it came to keeping the lines neat.

Tutorial: Sequin Tips

I had a few requests for a tutorial on the Sequin Tip nails I did for PHD's Just Tips Challenge.

Sorry about the abysmal lighting in the photos. I was waiting for a sunny day, but it never came.

1. 

Prepare everything you will need. I used:

E.L.F. Nude as a base just to get an even colour. You can go with a simple base or jazz it up with some colour.

A top coat. I used Miss Sporty.

A Nail Stick

Sequins

Paint on your base colour and let it dry.

3. 
You need to 'Blob' a small amount of the top coat on to the tip of your nail in the corner.

4. 

Put some base coat on a piece of paper to dip the end of the nail stick in to get it sticky.

Pick up a sequin.

Try to get it in the right position first time.

If you miss, don't worry, you can move it around or take it off and reposition it.

Repeat steps 3-5 working from one side of the nail to the other.

Once the sequins are in place and the clear varnish holding them on is dry enough to keep them in position, apply a thick top coat, ensuring you cover all the sequins.
If you are careful I expect they could last a few days, it just depends how long you can endure the constant catching and snagging! I only lasted a few hours!

I cheated and I'm not sorry!

I know forever I 've faithfully used Mango Mend.Well it finally happened, I cheated on Mango Mend. I found this cute tube of hand creme and I bought it, well it was love at first use.I've been using it for a month and this stuff is the Bees Knees! It reminds me of the origional Silicone glove lotion but creamier, richer and it smells yum. I paid $3.00 for a 3.5 oz tube and now I can't find it
