China Glaze No Way Jose

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I'm pleased to be wearing China Glaze No Way Jose today, which is another rediscovered treasure. It's a light, somewhat pink purple glass flecked polish from China Glaze's Tequila Toes collection a few years back. It applied very well and I added a third coat for opacity, which did the trick, before finishing it with Poshe. This is No Way Jose.

I love this polish. There's something about the shade of No Way Jose that thrills me, and I really don't know why. When put in combination with a glass flecked finish, I swoon, tilt my head sideways with both hands on one side of my face, and burst into song:

No Way Jose
How I love him
He's got something I can't resist
But he doesn't even know that I exist

No Way Jose
How I want him
How I tingle when he passes by
Every time he says hello
my heart begins to fly

I'm in heaven
I get carried away
I dream of him and me
and how it's gonna be

Other fellas call me up for a date
But I just sit and wait
I'd rather concentrate

On No Way Jose
'Cause I love him
And I pray that someday he'll love me
And together we will see how lovely heaven will be

If you don't recognize it for the tune, that's Johnny Angel, a Shelley Fabares song from the early sixties. It's the most melodramatic song I could come up with to complete my declaration of love for No Way Jose - when it comes to the stanza about sitting and waiting, I picture her singing it from the bushes outside Johnny Angel's window with binoculars in her hand, which makes it very funny to me.

That is No Way Jose and a little song for it that will likely get stuck in your head today, so I think my work here is done. Until next time, Dear Reader, love and nail polish to you!

Zoya Wicked Collection for Fall 2010

Good morning, Dear Reader!

I'm back with swatches of Zoya's Wicked Collection for Fall 2010 (samples sent to me by Zoya).  This collection is six glass flecked polishes, the same finish we've seen a lot of this season.  They're all two coaters and easy to control and apply.  I had to use artificial light today for reasons I won't bore you with.

Carrie Ann is a bright classic red.

Kym is a very Fall-appropriate rust red.

Karina is a good cranberry red.

Cheryl is a really great chocolate brown.  I love browns for Fall.

Edyta is a moss green with gold flecks.

Finally, the one I'm wearing is Julieanne, a grapey purple.  The dry time on this one was better than average, and the picture is with top coat.

That's Zoya's Wicked Collection.  Of both Wicked and Wonderful, I can say I have no complaints at all - if you like the color, you shouldn't run into any troubles if you spring for it.  Like the Wonderful Collection, Wicked was released on the first and is on Zoya's site now.

That's it for today, Dear Reader.  Until tomorrow, love and nail polish to you!

Nubar Venetian Glass Collection

Good morning, Dear Reader!

The manicure I had planned for today was thwarted yesterday when samples of Nubar's Venetian Glass Collection for Fall 2010 came from the manufacturer yesterday.  I wanted to swatch them right away despite the fact that I didn't have enough natural light for pictures, so I used artificial light.

The collection is eight colors, all opaque glass flecked polishes, with five kind of leaves-changing-color shades and three that are just really cool.  I was excited about opaque glass flecked polished, since most glass flecked are pretty sheer on me.  I did two coats for all, I think one or two might have been better with a third.

Oro is a yellow gold, with an almost foily finish.

Caramello is a browner golden shade, also almost a foil.

Bronzo is a coppery bronze.

Arencia is a Fall orange.

Rosso is a pink red, and sorry about the sloppy swatch on this one.  I wear out doing eight!

Those were the five I think of as fall leafy colors.  The other three are my favorites, I think.

Vino is a great burgundy.

Vaso is a great light purple glass fleck.

This last one is a complete manicure with top coat.  Verde is a deep green with visible green, blue, and gold flecks.

That's Nubar's Venetian Glass Collection for Fall 2010, available June 30.

I should have more swatches for you this week, too - notice for another mystery package was left when no one was around to sign for it.

That's the scoop for today, Dear Reader.  Until tomorrow, love and nail polish to you!
